Thousands Of EV Chargers Coming To Multi-Family Residences
ChargePoint and OBE Power plan to deploy about 2,500 EV charging ports at multifamily residential properties across North America beginning in 2026.

Installing EV chargers in multi-family residences enhances accessibility for residents, supports the adoption of electric vehicles, and addresses environmental concerns.
ChargePoint
ChargePoint and OBE Power recently partnered to deploy EV charging infrastructure at multifamily residential properties across North America.
Under the agreement, OBE Power plans to deploy about 2,500 charging ports beginning in 2026 using ChargePoint charging hardware, software, and services.
ChargePoint will serve as OBE Power’s exclusive EV charging technology provider for the multifamily deployments.
Focus on Multifamily Charging Access
The companies said the partnership is aimed at expanding EV charging access in multifamily housing, where charging availability has historically lagged behind single-family homes.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, about 80% of EV charging occurs at home.
“ChargePoint and OBE Power are expanding our relationship from hotels and hospitality into multifamily housing, which has long lacked a simple and scalable path for EV charging,” said Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint, said in a May 19 news release.
Alejandro Burgana, co-founder and managing director of OBE Power, said the companies have worked together for more than a decade on EV charging deployments across residential, workplace, and hospitality locations.
Turnkey Infrastructure Model
OBE Power said it will deploy and operate the charging infrastructure through its owned-and-operated business model, including ongoing driver support.
Under the arrangement, OBE Power will manage maintenance, repairs, insurance, energy cost reimbursement, and carbon credit revenue associated with the charging infrastructure. The company said the model is designed to reduce operational and financial burdens for property owners.
ChargePoint and OBE Power said they have already aligned multifamily development projects and expect deployments to begin in the near term.
